Soft White Sand

As well, Destin is known for its soft sugar-white sand. The sand is so fine that it squeaks under your feet when walking on it. Why is the sand in Destin so white? Destin’s sand is made up of tiny quartz particles resulting from a process involving the Appalachian Mountains and the Apalachicola River, which started ages ago.
