The Short Answer: Yes, a valid passport is generally required for travel to the Bahamas.

U.S. CITIZENS: All U.S. citizens traveling to and from the Bahamas by air or sea must present a valid passport with some exceptions for "Closed-Loop" Cruises.

CANADIAN CITIZENS: Canadian citizens must present a valid passport to enter the Bahamas. For stays less than 8 months, no visa is required.

EUROPEAN CITIZENS: European Union citizens, should have a valid passport when entering the Bahamas. Visa requirements vary based on the country.
