High Times Abroad: Top Cannabis-Friendly Vacation Destinations Across the Globe

As recreational cannabis gains legal status in more US states, it has become an integral part of the daily lives of Americans. Unsurprisingly, many are eager to enjoy cannabis while on vacation. In fact, the United States has witnessed a staggering increase of over 600% in Google searches for “weed-friendly vacation spots.”

While there are plenty of cannabis-happy destinations to be found stateside, the question becomes a bit trickier outside of the United States. Some countries, like Portugal, may not have officially legalized cannabis but still maintain a welcoming stance toward its use. On the other hand, destinations like Malta impose substantial fines, despite technically permitting the use of weed.

“People around the world are finally opening their eyes to the wonders of cannabis, but lawmakers are so slow in keeping up that you would suspect they’ve smoked a blunt or two themselves. Not every country shares the community’s view that our favorite plant should be legalized, so stoners must be extra careful when booking a getaway. You don’t want to be caught with an edible stashed away when boarding a plane to a country where marijuana is off-limits, but going cold turkey would put a real downer on the vacation… Luckily, there are plenty of destinations to fly to where you can relax without the worry of locals and law enforcement sniffing out your stash,” says Jonathan Bohun, founder and CEO of WEEDAR.

With these factors in mind, WEEDAR recently released its list of the top weed-friendly travel destinations.
